Aniane Festival Kicks off with Hall Inauguration, Showcases Local and International Talent
Aniane, France - The annual festival in Aniane commenced this weekend with the inauguration of its newly restored halls, marking a notable moment for the community and a vibrant start to a diverse program of cultural events. The festival, supported by the Region, the Department, and a loan of stage equipment from the CCVH, builds on a foundation of municipal subsidy, patronage, and crowdfunding.
Saturday’s events began with a flamenco performance and dance workshop, leading into the official opening of the halls. Mayor emphasized the past importance of the venue, stating, “they have seen markets, popular balls, Christmas fairies, and so many cultural and festive events. They are the witness of our history, our traditions, but also of our modernity.This place,in the heart of our village,is a popular space,open to everyone,dedicated to life,sharing and cohesion.” Jocelyne “Nini” Oullié and Guy Pieyre, recognized for their dedication to Aniane’s history and heritage, had the honor of cutting the ribbon.

Following the inauguration, cie Ararí Danza presented “Baleya,” a performance addressing the ecological emergency and the impact of plastic waste on marine life. Sunday’s schedule featured a full day of activities, including games, storytelling for children, theatrical performances, dance, a rock concert, clownesque artistry, puppetry, and a closing performance by “lying Lo Mínimo.”
The festival also showcased the talents of Alta Gama, a Spanish company based in chambery, featuring performers who defied expectations. The company’s members, one considered too large and the other facing work limitations due to a handicap, were encouraged to pursue their passion. As one performer recalled his mother saying, “It does not matter, you will fly.”
The festival benefits from partnerships with several local associations,including the fairyland institution,the festival committee,the rural home,Aperal Muzikal,and Live in Aniane. FCPE presented the children’s show “Filomene et Cie” on Sunday.
