Rinku Singh No Longer Borrows Bat From Virat Kohli, Confirms reliance on Personal Equipment
Indian cricketer Rinku Singh has stated he has stopped borrowing bats from Virat Kohli and is now exclusively using his own equipment. The revelation came during a recent interaction, highlighting a shift in the player’s approach to his cricketing gear.
“At the later stage of the IPL,I didn’t ask Virat bhai (brother) to ask for a bat. Mahi bhai (MS Dhoni) and rohit bhai (Rohit Sharma) have their own bats, and I feel I am worthy of having my own too. We are lucky that big stars share their bats with us, but I now prefer to use my own,” Rinku Singh explained.
Rinku Singh is currently part of the Indian squad for the Asia cup. While he was selected for the T20 world Cup, he did not get an prospect to play in any matches during the tournament.
This decision signifies Rinku Singh’s growing confidence and self-reliance as a professional cricketer. Previously, it was common for younger players to seek equipment from established stars like Kohli, Dhoni, and Sharma, notably during the Indian Premier league (IPL). Singh’s statement indicates a progression in his career where he feels equipped, both literally and figuratively, to perform with his own gear.
Rinku Singh rose to prominence in the 2023 IPL season playing for the Kolkata Knight Riders, showcasing remarkable finishing skills and earning a place in the national team. His ability to chase down targets under pressure quickly made him a fan favorite and a valuable asset to the Indian middle order.
The Asia Cup 2023 is currently underway, featuring India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, and Nepal. The tournament serves as a crucial preparation ground for the upcoming ICC Cricket World Cup 2023, which will be hosted by India in October-November.
