Sr. Bosco casey, Sister of Mercy, Dies at 87

loughrea, Ireland – Sr. Bosco (Maureen) Casey, a dedicated Sister of Mercy, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 15, 2025, at St. ⁢Brendan’s Community Nursing Unit ⁢in Loughrea.‍ She was 87 years ⁤old. Her passing occurred on the Feast of the‌ Assumption,a significant day in the Catholic​ faith.

A Life of Service and Faith

Born Maureen Casey, Sr. Bosco devoted her life to religious service and community work. She was formerly of Kilcolman, Clarina, County limerick,⁢ and ​had been a‍ cherished member of the Mercy Convent in Loughrea for many years. Her commitment⁤ to the Sisters of Mercy and​ the⁤ wider community was unwavering.

sr. Bosco was ⁢predeceased by her parents, John and Margaret Casey, and her brothers, ⁢Patrick and⁣ Gerard, as well as her sister, Veronica. she is ‌survived by her ⁤brothers Seán and Denis, sisters-in-law Sheila and Eileen, nieces Mairéad, Marie, and Bríd, grandnieces, grandnephews, special cousin Eileen Hayes, and a ⁣large circle of friends and fellow Sisters of Mercy.

Funeral arrangements

A wake will be‌ held for Sr. Bosco at kilboys Funeral Home, Loughrea (H62 KF62) on Sunday, August 17th, from 4:00 ⁤PM to 6:30 PM.Following the ⁤wake, her remains⁤ will be removed‍ to St. Brendan’s ⁤Cathedral, Loughrea.

The⁣ Requiem Mass will be celebrated at St. ​Brendan’s Cathedral ‍on Monday, ​August 18th, at 11:00 AM.Following the Mass, Sr.Bosco will be laid to rest in​ the Convent ⁢Cemetery,⁢ Loughrea.
