The Australian-born athlete, a five-time CrossFit Games champion (2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, and 2021), has recently addressed harsh criticism leveled against her online. Among the accusations, some individuals have falsely alleged performance-enhancing drug use.

One notably pointed comment, representative of the negativity she encounters, stated, “When you clearly use steroids, this ceases to be a legitimate sport.” Toomey responded to such critiques with a concise and resolute statement: “Nothing more to prove!”

Toomey’s career began in weightlifting, representing Australia at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. She transitioned to CrossFit in 2015, quickly establishing herself as a dominant force in the sport.Her husband, Shane Toomey, is also a CrossFit athlete and provides support in her training and career.

The athlete’s ability to maintain composure in the face of online attacks highlights the pressures faced by elite athletes in the age of social media. The incident underscores the importance of addressing online harassment and the need for athletes to advocate for themselves.
