Netflix Axes Arnold Schwarzenegger’s ‘Fubar’ After One Season
Series starring action legend fails to recapture initial success for streaming giant.
Netflix has officially pulled the plug on its action-comedy series “Fubar,” starring screen icon Arnold Schwarzenegger, following disappointing viewership for its second season. The decision comes after a significant gap between its initial launch and the sophomore season’s release.
Struggling to Maintain Momentum
While the series, which premiered in 2023, initially performed well for the streaming service, its second season, released on June 12, failed to maintain that momentum. Despite breaking into Nielsen’s top 10 streaming originals shortly after its debut, the show quickly dropped in the rankings the following week.
Sources suggest this underperformance was the primary driver behind Netflix’s decision not to proceed with a third season, ending the narrative of the CIA agent pairing.
Star-Studded Cast and Crew
“Fubar” featured a prominent cast alongside Arnold Schwarzenegger, including Monica Barbaro, Milan Carter, Fortune Feimster, Travis van Winkle, Fabiana Udenio, Aparna Brielle, Guy Burnet, Andy Buckley, Carrie-Anne Moss, Jay Baruchel, Barbara Eve Harris, and Scott Thompson.
The series was developed by Nick Santora, who also served as an executive producer. The production team included Arnold Schwarzenegger, Adam Higgs, Scott Sullivan, Phil Abraham, Amy Pocha, Seth Cohen, David Ellison, Goldberg Funds, and Matt Thunell from Skydance Television, which produced the second season.
Netflix’s Streaming Landscape
The cancellation of “Fubar” comes as Netflix continues to refine its content strategy amidst intense competition in the streaming market. In 2023, Netflix reported a global subscriber base of over 260 million, highlighting the sheer scale of its audience and the pressure to deliver consistent hits.
For fans seeking new viewing options, Netflix offers a wide array of other popular series, such as “Wednesday,” “Bridgerton,” and “The Diplomat.”
