Director James Gunn has indicated that official details regarding the sequel to the upcoming film “Superman” are still “a ways off.” Gunn, currently involved in press for “Peacemaker Season 2,” confirmed he is also writing the follow-up to the 2025 “Superman” film.
Gunn clarified on Threads that the project is not explicitly titled “Superman 2,” but reiterated that Superman will have a significant role. He previously suggested the sequel will differ from expectations, ruling out a “Batman vs. Superman” or “World’s Finest” scenario involving Batman.
The release date for the “Superman” sequel remains unannounced,and its specific place within the DC Universe is yet to be determined.
