Hokies Tip Off 2025-26 Season with Diverse Schedule

Home contests, Bahamas trip, and ACC/SEC challenge highlight early slate.

Virginia Tech’s men’s basketball program is set to launch its 118th season with a robust 13-game nonconference lineup. Fans can anticipate eight home games at Cassell Coliseum, a significant trip to the Bahamas, and challenging road tests against Providence and South Carolina.

Exhibition Game and Season Opener

A new exhibition contest against Duquesne is scheduled for Saturday, October 25, at 1 p.m. This matchup, following the football team’s game against Cal, will utilize the same ticket pricing as regular-season nonconference games. The official season begins on Monday, November 3, with a home game against Charleston Southern.

Early Season Road Tests

The Hokies will travel to Uncasville, Connecticut, on November 8 for a neutral-site game against Providence as part of the 2025 Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame Series. This marks the first of several away games early in the season.

Home Stands and Tournament Play

Following the Providence matchup, Virginia Tech returns to Blacksburg for a series of home games against Saint Joseph’s (November 12), Charlotte (November 16), and Bryant (November 19). The team’s schedule then shifts to Paradise Island, Bahamas, for the prestigious Bad Boy Mowers Battle 4 Atlantis tournament from November 26-28.

ACC/SEC Challenge and December Schedule

The Hokies will participate in the ACC/SEC Challenge on December 2, facing South Carolina on the road. They then return to host George Mason (December 6), Western Carolina (December 11), Maryland Eastern Shore (December 14), and Elon (December 20), concluding their nonconference slate.

Looking Ahead

The complete Atlantic Coast Conference schedule, including television assignments and tip-off times, will be released at a later date. Last season, college basketball teams faced increased competition, with many programs aiming to improve their NET rankings. For example, the Saint Joseph’s Hawks, whom Virginia Tech will host, reached the NIT, finishing with a 22-13 record and a NET ranking of 76.
