Junya Ito is reportedly nearing a return to KRC Genk, his former club in the Jupiler Pro League.
the 32-year-old Japanese winger,who previously played for Genk for over two seasons before his departure in 2022,has reached a personal agreement with the Limburgers for a three-year contract,according to Sacha Tavolieri. Ito had joined Stade de Reims for €10 million in 2022.
Tavolieri also reported that Reims has received a written offer from Genk, with negotiations for a deal estimated to be close to €3 million underway. Reims is reportedly looking to finalize the deal quickly, possibly due to their relegation to Ligue 2 and Ito having only one season left on his contract.
Ito’s potential return comes as KRC Genk prepares for critically important weeks, with the League Phase of the Europa League and significant matches in the Jupiler Pro League on the horizon.
