Scottish Man Pleads Guilty to Drug Conspiracy
Extensive Operation Involved Importing Controlled Substances
A 32-year-old Scottish man has admitted his role in a drug importation conspiracy that spanned several countries. Ryan Watson entered a guilty plea before the Special Criminal Court in Dublin today.
Details of the Conspiracy
The court heard that **Watson**, of Mailerbeg Gardens, Modiesburn, Glasgow, conspired with others between December 18, 2024, and January 15, 2025, to import controlled drugs valued at over €13,000. The conspiracy involved activities both within and outside the Republic of Ireland.
The case has been adjourned until October 20 for a mention, with the court requesting a probation report, a governor’s report, an education report, and urinalysis results.
Co-Accused Also Pleaded Guilty
This development follows an earlier guilty plea from **Conor Costello**, 31, of Earhart Park, Madamsbank Road, Derry, Northern Ireland, who admitted to the same charge earlier this month. Other individuals implicated in the conspiracy include **Monks** (40) from Glasgow, **Miljan Koprivca** (45) from Manchester, and three Filipino men: **Hanz Pangahin** (36), **Christopher Ampo** (44), and **Feljon Lao** (62).
Drug trafficking remains a significant challenge globally. In 2023, global law enforcement operations disrupted the supply of an estimated 2,038 metric tons of cocaine, highlighting the scale of illicit drug trade (UNODC World Drug Report 2024).
