Brewers Acquire Catcher Danny Jansen in Trade with Rays
In a significant move ahead of the trade deadline, the Milwaukee Brewers have acquired catcher Danny Jansen from the Tampa Bay Rays. The deal, finalized on July 29, sent infielder Jadher Areinamo to the Rays. Jansen,a 30-year-old catcher,returns to wisconsin,a place he knows well from his youth.
Jansen, who grew up in Appleton, Wisconsin, and attended Appleton West, has a personal connection to the Timber Rattlers, the Brewers’ High-A affiliate. Members of the Timber Rattlers previously resided in the home Jansen shared with his family, which was located a short distance from Fox cities Stadium. This trade marks Jansen’s fourth team in the past year, having been traded at consecutive deadlines.
Jansen expressed his surprise and excitement about the move. “Hearing that it’s for the Brewers is exciting,” Jansen stated. “obviously, the Brewers have been playing awesome baseball. Definitely being close to home where my wife and I live, as well, is exciting. Being part of an awesome clubhouse,as I’ve heard,and just competing with these guys.” Jansen had been the primary catcher for the Rays during the 2025 season.
