UAE & Jordan Airdrop Aid to Gaza Amid Land Access Challenges
“Birds of Goodness” Initiative Continues with 57th Projection
The United Arab Emirates, in collaboration with Jordan, is intensifying its humanitarian efforts in Gaza by continuing airdrops of critical relief supplies. This vital operation aims to reach the most severely affected areas, circumventing land-based delivery obstacles.
“Al-Faris 3” Operation Delivers Essential Supplies
Under the umbrella of “Al-Faris 3” operation, the initiative underscores the UAE’s unwavering commitment to its Palestinian brethren. The ongoing airdrops address the escalating humanitarian crisis plaguing civilians in the Gaza Strip, particularly given the persistent security challenges that impede overland aid distribution.
Thousands of Tons of Aid Delivered
To date, approximately 3,775 tons of food and relief items have been successfully air-dropped. This significant delivery utilized 196 specialized aircraft, ensuring accuracy and access for the most vulnerable populations.
Land Convoys Complement Airdrops
In parallel to the airdrops, 58 Emirati trucks have entered Gaza through various land crossings. These convoys are part of a broader relief effort, including a crucial project to extend a water pipeline from desalination stations, aiming to improve living conditions for the people of Gaza.
The United Nations estimates that Gaza requires an average of 500 aid trucks per day to meet the basic needs of its population. This ongoing assistance from the UAE and Jordan is a critical component in addressing the vast needs. (OCHA oPt, 2024)
