Montreal Commuter Rail Disrupted by Bridge Street Fire
Brush Fire Near Maintenance Hub Causes Delays
A blaze on Bridge Street in Montreal on Tuesday morning created significant service disruptions for the Mont-Saint-Hilaire suburban train line and several metro stations, according to Exo.
Service Resumes with Significant Delays
The affected train line has since resumed operations, albeit with a 35-minute delay. Emergency services were actively working to clear the affected area around 9 a.m. to facilitate the return to normal service patterns.
Sparks Ignited Vegetation, Causing Fire
The disturbance stemmed from a brush fire situated close to a train maintenance center, as confirmed by Exo spokesperson **Andréanne Gagnon**. This type of incident is not uncommon, with **Mme. Gagnon** explaining that extreme heat can cause friction between train wheels and rails.
This friction can generate sparks, which then ignite surrounding dry vegetation. This is a recurring issue during periods of high temperatures.
Real-Time Service Updates Available
Commuters can monitor the current status of suburban trains in real time using the Chrono application.
