Matane St-Hubert Restaurant Enhances Accessibility for Autistic Patrons
matane, Quebec – The Matane St-Hubert restaurant is rolling out new initiatives to accommodate patrons with autism spectrum disorder, joining a growing number of St-Hubert locations prioritizing sensory-friendly dining experiences.
Cindy Lévesque, a franchisee at the Matane rotisserie, has implemented changes to create a more serene environment for individuals sensitive to stimuli. This move aligns with approximately forty other St-Hubert restaurants across Quebec that are adapting their atmosphere to better serve autistic customers.
The restaurant now offers reduced lighting, lower music volumes, and minimized kitchen noise. For patrons who request them, sensory tools such as noise-canceling helmets, timers, and tactile toys are available to enhance their dining comfort.
These specially adapted hours are scheduled every Sunday between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. To ensure a positive experience, all staff members have undergone training to effectively address the specific needs and requests of autistic guests.
