Le Monde Implements New Account Sharing Restrictions, Citing Concurrent Usage
Paris, France – Le Monde has begun enforcing new restrictions on account sharing, preventing users from accessing the publication on multiple devices concurrently. The change, which appears to be a response to increased concurrent usage of single accounts, aims to ensure a more controlled and individual reading experience. The publication’s updated policy states that while users can connect their accounts to an unlimited number of devices, thay can only actively use one at a time. This means that if an account is being used on one device, attempting to access it on another will result in a message indicating that the content is already being read elsewhere.
According to Le Monde, this measure is in place because “another person (or you) is reading The world With this account on another device.” The core of the restriction is that users “cannot read The world that on a single device at the same time (computer, telephone or tablet).”
To resolve the issue of seeing this message, users are advised to log in with their own credentials if they are the beneficiary of the subscription. Alternatively, they can click a button to “Continue to read hear,” with the caveat that they must ensure they are the sole user of the account.
For those who suspect their account is being used by others, Le Monde recommends changing their password. the publication also clarifies that if a user chooses to continue reading despite the message, the notification will appear on the other device, which will remain connected to the account.
Le Monde has emphasized that there are no other limits on device connectivity, reiterating that users can connect to their accounts on as many devices as they wish, provided they are used at different times. In cases where multiple individuals are sharing an account,Le Monde suggests exploring their “multi-account offer” to allow loved ones to have their own individual accounts.
