Aruba has been recognized as the safest Caribbean island, according to a recent safety index that evaluated various popular travel destinations. The island secured the top spot with a score of 9.3 out of 10.
The complete safety index, compiled using data from sources including the U.S. State Department, local law enforcement agencies, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), and the World Health Organization (WHO), assessed destinations on several key factors. Aruba achieved a perfect score for its U.S.Travel Advisory status, maintaining a Level 1 rating, which signifies the lowest level of travel risk. Furthermore, the island was noted for its non-existent hurricane risk.
In addition to its travel advisory and weather safety,Aruba also received high marks for its low crime rate,scoring 9 out of 10. Its healthcare access was rated 8 out of 10,reflecting adherence to high Dutch medical standards.
The index also highlighted Aruba Carnival, a vibrant festivity that commenced in 1954. The festivities typically begin in November and reach their peak in January and February,offering a compelling reason for visitors to experience the island during the U.S. winter months.
Following Aruba,Barbados ranked second with a score of 9.2. grenada and Curaçao tied for third place,both earning a score of 9.0. The top ten safest Caribbean islands, along with their respective scores, are as follows:
