Rafael Devers Makes Unexpected Debut at First Base for San Francisco Giants
Rafael Devers, primarily known as a designated hitter, made a surprising appearance at first base for the san Francisco Giants in their recent game against the Atlanta Braves. The move came as a notable shift for the player, who had previously been instructed by the Boston Red Sox to focus solely on his designated hitter role.

Devers’ decision to play first base for the Giants comes after his previous team, the Boston Red Sox, had advised him to set aside his glove and concentrate on his role as a designated hitter. In May, Devers commented on this directive, stating, “I know I’m a ballplayer, but simultaneously occurring, they can’t expect me to play every single position out there. In spring training, they talked to me and basically told me to put away my glove, that I wasn’t going to play any other position but DH.”
