Dragons RFC Opens Doors for Community Training Sessions
Fans Invited to Watch Pre-Season Preparations Across Gwent
Dragons RFC is launching a series of free, open training sessions across the region next week, offering supporters an exclusive glimpse into the team’s preparations for the upcoming BKT United Rugby Championship and EPCR Challenge Cup seasons. This initiative aims to connect the club more closely with its fanbase.
Meet the Men of Gwent
From Monday, July 28th, fans can witness coach Filo Tiatia‘s squad in action at various local rugby clubs. Following each session, there will be an opportunity for autographs and photos with the players.
Training Schedule:
- Monday, July 28th – Abertillery RFC – 2:00 PM
- Tuesday, July 29th – Caerphilly RFC – 2:00 PM
- Thursday, July 31st – Pontypool United RFC – 2:00 PM
- Friday, August 1st – RFC Caldicot – 2:00 PM
All sessions are free to attend, commencing promptly at 2:00 PM each day.
Mini Skills Camps for Young Talent
Complementing the open training, the Dragons Community team will host Mini Skills Camps each morning. These camps offer children aged seven to 15 an engaging two-hour rugby experience filled with fun and games, suitable for all skill levels.
The cost for this unique opportunity is £10 per child. Interested parents can book their spot via the club’s booking portal or through the provided links.
Community Engagement and Rugby Development
This outreach programme highlights the club’s commitment to grassroots development and fan engagement. Such initiatives can significantly boost local participation in rugby; for instance, a 2023 report by Sport England noted a 5% increase in youth rugby participation following similar community-focused club events (Sport England).
The club encourages supporters to come out and support the team as they prepare for an exciting season ahead, strengthening the bond between the Dragons and the Gwent community.
