England Overcomes Italian Challenge
England, heavily favored entering the semi-final clash in Switzerland, faced a stern test from the italian side.Italy took the lead ten minutes before halftime through Barbara Bonansea, who capitalized on a swift attacking move. Despite Italy’s breakthrough, England had dominated possession and created numerous scoring opportunities throughout the match.
Michelle Agyemang equalized for England six minutes into stoppage time, a goal that mirrored her crucial contribution in the quarterfinals against Sweden, where she scored late in the game to force a penalty shootout, which England ultimately won.
As the reigning European champions, having triumphed on home soil three years ago, England now has the chance to defend their title.
