Tennessee Titans quarterback Will Levis will miss the entire 2025 NFL season after opting for shoulder surgery on july 29. The procedure addresses an injury sustained last season that has reportedly caused ongoing discomfort.
The Titans institution expressed full support for Levis’ decision, emphasizing its focus on his long-term health. “After consulting with doctors and his representatives, Will Levis has decided to undergo shoulder surgery that will sideline him for the entire 2025 season,” the team stated. “We support his decision to focus on his long-term health. He approached the offseason with professionalism and showed clear growth as a leader. We remain confident in his full recovery.”
Levis originally injured his right shoulder on September 30 last year during the Titans’ Week 4 matchup against the Miami Dolphins. The injury, an AC joint sprain, occurred when the 6-foot-4 quarterback dove for a first down. Despite the injury, Levis continued to play through the discomfort for the remainder of the season.
While the Titans drafted quarterback Cam Ward with the first overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, general manager Mike Borgonzi had previously indicated that the team intended to foster competition for the starting role. With Levis sidelined, Ward will now compete with veteran quarterbacks Brandon Allen and Tim Boyle for the starting position.
Levis, the 33rd overall selection in the 2023 NFL Draft, has a 5-16 record as a starter in his two seasons with the Titans. In his rookie year, he threw for eight touchdowns and four interceptions. His sophomore season saw an increase in production, with 13 touchdowns and 12 interceptions.
The team anticipates Levis will be fully recovered and ready to play by the 2026-27 season.
