Jakarta’s provincial government has announced the readiness of 267 red and White Urban Village Cooperatives, a key component of the national initiative launched by President Prabowo Subianto, which aims to empower communities through local economic progress.
Deputy Governor Rano Karno confirmed that all cooperatives in Jakarta are fully prepared to commence operations, adhering strictly to central government regulations. The official launch saw the participation of various urban village cooperatives across the capital.
Chico Hakim, Special Staff to the Jakarta governor for Social Communications, elaborated that the operational rollout will be phased. “Everything is ready in principle. some are already operational, while others will commence gradually,” he stated.
Hakim further highlighted the diverse operational models tailored to each community’s unique needs. “Each location has a different collaboration model. In Melawai, the cooperative collaborates with the Jakarta Mass Rapid Transit (Jakarta MRT). In other urban ward offices, the collaboration is different and tailored to the needs of the local community,” he explained.
The Jakarta provincial government anticipates that these cooperatives will serve as significant catalysts for local economic growth, fostering greater economic empowerment among residents in every urban village across the city.
