Sylvain duthu Embraces Introspective Solo Journey Following Boulevard des Airs Hiatus
[City, Date] – Sylvain Duthu, formerly of Boulevard des Airs, is embarking on a new chapter with his debut solo album, “3:22 pm,” a deeply personal project that reflects a newfound freedom in his songwriting. The artist recently shared insights into his transition and the intimate nature of his latest work.
Duthu’s decision to launch his solo career in his home region was a natural one, driven by the personal connection he feels to the Pyrenees. The album’s genesis is intertwined with the landscape, featuring a live session of the song “Hyper” recorded at the Cap-de-Longue dam and a music video for “Le pli de l’œil” filmed in Esparros and the surrounding Baronnies with his brother. Thes choices underscore the album’s deep roots in his personal history and environment.
The lyrical content of “3:22 pm” marks a meaningful shift for Duthu, moving from a shared narrative within Boulevard des Airs to a more solitary and introspective voice. “I go from author and spokesperson to an author alone, for myself,” Duthu explained. “There is no more barrier.” This uninhibited approach to writing allows him to explore themes he might have previously hesitated to address directly, finding liberation in the solitary act of creation.
The transition to a solo career was not a pre-meditated strategy but rather an organic growth during a break from Boulevard des Airs. Duthu expressed that this unexpected path has led to experiences he might not have otherwise encountered.he recounted a performance in a small Biarritz bar, where the intimate setting and the sheer enjoyment of playing for a modest audience resonated deeply. “If I had as much fun playing in a bar in front of 50 people as in a zenith with 5,000 or 10,000 people, it was that I had made the right choice,” he stated, highlighting a sense of returning to the foundational passion of his musical journey and the drive to constantly challenge himself.
Duthu is also slated to perform alongside Véronique Sanson, Alliocha, and Ceronne on the “highest stage in France” as part of the 25th-anniversary celebrations of the Pic du Midi.
