Laci, formerly of Sparta Prague, has found a new home with Rizespor, the ninth-placed team in the Turkish League last season. The move sees him join former Slavia forward Václav Jurečka and ex-Sparta player Casper Højer at the Turkish club. Laci signed a three-year contract with Rizespor, who expressed their welcome and wished him success.
Sparta Prague reflected on Laci’s contributions, noting his captain’s armband in two Champions League preliminary round matches at the start of the previous season. His performances were instrumental in Sparta reaching the league phase of the competition for the first time in nineteen years, where he also made an impact in the opening match.
The midfielder also shared an anecdote about surprising Sparta’s owner, Daniel Křetínský. The gesture occurred after a match against Dinamo Zagreb, where Sparta secured advancement to the Europa League. Laci recalled approaching Křetínský in the dressing room and playfully greeting him with “My friend,we Best Friend,” likening it to asking a boss for a raise.
