Florida Open: Gators Lead in Final Round

Jacksonville Golfer Allin Crouch Tied for second at Florida Open

Jacksonville’s Allin Crouch is in contention at the 78th Florida Open, sitting in a tie for second place at 12-under par after shooting a 68 at TwinEagles. He shares the position with Joseph Pagdin, who also carded a 65 at TwinEagles. Pagdin, a transfer to Texas Christian, earned a spot on the All-Big 12 tournament team last spring. Crouch, a two-time Florida Times-Union high school player of the year adn a former University of Florida golfer, has been pursuing a professional career since 2017.

Currently in fourth place, and a notable contender, is J.C.Deacon, the current coach of the University of Florida’s golf program. Deacon, who shot a 65 at twineagles to reach 11-under 133, brings a important advantage: he has won the florida Open twice before, in 2017 and 2020.

Crouch’s round included an eagle on the third hole. Despite bogeys on holes 5 and 6, he rallied with birdies on the 8th, 13th, 17th, and 18th holes. “I’m not quite sure what was working well for me out there,” Crouch told fsga.org. “I got away with some stuff out there today. I didn’t hit it my best but my short game was good. I hit a lot of close chips, including a chip in on the fifth hole par five hole for eagle.”

Deacon, starting his round on the 10th tee, recorded birdies on five of the six holes between the 3rd and 8th.

The final round of the tournament is scheduled to take place at Quail West Country Club.
