Western Australia is set to experience a significant weather shift as a strong cold front approaches, bringing a potent mix of severe conditions from Sunday into Monday. Residents can anticipate damaging to destructive winds, widespread rainfall, thunderstorms, and even the possibility of snow flurries.
The Southwest Land Division, including the Perth metropolitan area, is notably at risk for damaging winds on Sunday afternoon and evening. Authorities are preparing to issue a Severe Weather Warning for these conditions.The passage of the front is also expected to trigger severe thunderstorms capable of producing damaging wind gusts across the southwest region.
Following the frontal system, a noticeable drop in temperatures is forecast. By Monday, maximum temperatures are predicted to fall into the low to mid-teens. The higher elevations of the Stirling Ranges, specifically Bluff Knoll, may witness snow flurries during the overnight hours of Sunday into Monday morning.
Coastal areas along the south and west coasts should prepare for large waves and significant swells throughout Sunday and Monday.
This period of wet and windy weather is expected to advance eastward across southern Western Australia in the early hours of Monday. By Monday night, much of the state is anticipated to see a clearing of these adverse weather conditions.
