Wolfsburg Set to Sign Genk’s Zakaria El Ouahdi for €9 Million
Genk, Belgium – VFL Wolfsburg is poised to acquire Belgian Jupiler Pro League standout Zakaria El Ouahdi, according to reports from FootMercato and confirmed by multiple sources. The German club has reportedly reached an agreement in principle wiht the player on a four-year contract with an option for a fifth year.

El Ouahdi’s rise to prominence has been rapid. Initially a backup to Daniel Muñoz, the Moroccan wingback seized his opportunity following Muñoz’s departure during the Wintermercato. He quickly established himself as a key player for Genk, demonstrating consistent high-level performance.
His strong form earned him a call-up to the Moroccan national team for the Olympic Games and attracted interest from several foreign clubs, including SL Benfica. Despite benfica’s pursuit,El Ouahdi remained with Genk,where he continued to excel.
Genk had previously indicated their willingness to consider offers for El Ouahdi, and Wolfsburg has now emerged as the frontrunner.The German club is expected to submit an official bid of €9 million, a figure Genk may attempt to negotiate upwards.
The proposed contract with wolfsburg would see El Ouahdi remain at the Volkswagen Arena until June 2029, with the possibility of a one-year extension. The transfer is contingent on reaching a final agreement between the two clubs.
