President Trump diagnosed with Common Vein Condition

Washington D.C. – The White House announced on Friday, July 18, 2025, that President Donald Trump, 79, has been diagnosed with chronic venous insufficiency, a prevalent vein condition affecting many older adults.

The diagnosis followed President Trump’s recent observation of mild swelling in his lower legs. Medical examinations revealed that the condition stems from the malfunction of small valves within his veins, which impedes the efficient return of blood to the heart, leading to pooling in the legs.

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt clarified that the condition is not serious and is frequently observed in individuals over the age of 70. she emphasized that President Trump shows no indications of deep vein thrombosis, such as blood clots in the legs, nor any other vascular issues like arterial disease.

Leavitt confirmed that complete medical evaluations, including vascular and ultrasound tests, were performed. The condition is currently not causing President Trump any discomfort, and the announcement was made to preempt any health-related speculation.

A letter from president Trump’s physician, Dr. Sean Barbabella, was read during the press briefing, corroborating the diagnosis and affirming that President Trump remains in good health. This new diagnosis was not mentioned in the report from President Trump’s full physical examination in April, which involved over a dozen specialists. At that time, his physician had reported normal blood flow, no swelling, and full joint and muscle mobility.

Recent photographs had shown bruising on the back of President Trump’s hand, which the White House attributed to frequent handshaking and his use of aspirin, a medication taken to mitigate the risk of heart attack and stroke.

Dr.Anahita dua,a vascular surgeon at Mass General Brigham who has not treated President Trump, commented to The Associated Press that “the vast majority of people, probably including our president, have a mild to moderate form of it.” She added that individuals with this condition can manage swelling through regular walking and the use of compression stockings.Leavitt also noted that while more severe cases can lead to leg ulcers, this complication was not present in President trump’s case.
