Electricity consumption in Ukraine saw an increase on Wednesday, July 16, according to the press service of NPC Ukrenergo. As of 9:30 a.m., consumption levels were 5.1% higher than at the same time the previous day.
Ukrenergo attributes the surge in demand primarily to hot weather conditions across the country. Additionally, high cloudiness and rainfall in some western regions are impacting the efficiency of household solar power plants, leading to greater reliance on the national grid.
On Tuesday, july 15, the daily maximum electricity consumption recorded in the evening matched the level observed on Monday, july 14.
The Ministry of Energy reported that as of July 16, the nation’s power system remains balanced, with no planned restrictions for consumers anticipated.
Though, Ukrenergo cautioned that the Ukrainian power system is still undergoing recovery from extensive Russian missile and drone attacks. Emergency restoration efforts are ongoing at energy facilities. Consequently, consumers are urged to use electricity judiciously.
Furthermore, Ukrenergo stated that as of Wednesday morning, eight settlements in two regions were experiencing power outages, either partial or complete, due to adverse weather, including thunderstorms and strong winds. Regional energy companies’ repair crews are actively working to restore damaged power lines and bring electricity back to all subscribers as swiftly as possible.
