Emma Watson, the beloved star of the Harry Potter franchise, has been suspended from driving for six months following a speeding offence. The decision was handed down by High Wycombe Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday. Watson was fined £1,044 (approximately $1,399) for driving 38 miles per hour in a 30 miles per hour zone.
Coincidentally,Zoë Wanamaker, who portrayed Madame Hooch in the Harry Potter films, also faced a similar penalty in the same court on the same day. Wanamaker, 76, was convicted for driving 46 miles per hour in a 40 miles per hour zone. Her lawyer,Duncan Jones, stated that Wanamaker accepted the penalty without seeking special treatment. Both actresses had accumulated nine points on their licenses prior to these incidents, leading to the automatic six-month suspension after Judge Arvind Sharma deducted three points from each.
watson is currently maintaining a low profile and will not be participating in the upcoming HBO television adaptation of the Harry Potter series. The role of Hermione Granger will be played by newcomer Arabella Stanton. The ambitious decade-long series will also feature Dominic McLaughlin as Harry and Alastair Stout as Ron.
