Quebec Experiences Significant Rainfall in Early Summer, Impacting Sunshine Hours in Key Regions
The initial weeks of summer across Quebec have been marked by significant rainfall, with several areas receiving considerably more precipitation than usual. While regions like Gaspé, Gatineau, and Chibougamau experienced less intense wet weather, other parts of the province saw a notable increase in rain accumulation.
Beyond the impact of precipitation, the availability of sunshine has also been a significant factor influencing the summer experience in various Quebec locales. The National Capital region,in particular, endured a notably overcast period during the first half of summer. From June 1st to July 15th, Quebec as a whole recorded an average deficit of nearly 50 hours of sunshine compared to its typical levels. In contrast, Montreal experienced a much smaller deviation from its usual sunshine hours, falling short by only approximately two hours.
