AC Milan Facing Full-Back Transfer Setback
Wolves accelerate chase for highly-rated Spanish defender Marc Pubill
Following the disappointment of losing out on Archie Brown to Fenerbahce, AC Milan’s hunt for defensive reinforcements faces another significant hurdle. The Rossoneri are now in a precarious position regarding another full-back target, with Wolverhampton Wanderers reportedly making a decisive move.
Wolves Steal March on Pubill Pursuit
Reports indicate that AC Milan’s efforts to secure a new left-back and right-back have proven challenging. Their pursuit of Strasbourg’s right-back, Guela Doué, has been complicated by a valuation reportedly nearing €30 million, including bonuses. This difficulty has led the Italian giants to explore alternatives, with Spanish defender Marc Pubill emerging as a more financially accessible option.
However, Wolverhampton Wanderers have seemingly entered the race with considerable force. According to Fabrizio Romano’s insights, the Premier League club is aggressively pushing to secure the signature of the Almeria player.

Despite having a contract with Almeria until June 2029, and having previously been linked with a summer 2024 move to Atalanta that didn’t materialize, Pubill has conveyed his ambition to join a more prominent club to his current team.
Olympic Champion on the Radar
Marc Pubill, an Olympic champion with Spain, is recognized for his physical prowess and ability to drive play forward. He featured in 36 league matches last season, scoring one goal, and made an additional four Copa del Rey appearances.
Valued at approximately €15 million, Pubill had also attracted the attention of Juventus. Milan had initially seemed confident in their pursuit, but the accelerated interest from Wolves now threatens to derail the transfer plans of both Igli Tare and Massimiliano Allegri for the club’s flanks.
As of early July 2024, the transfer market has seen significant activity, with clubs investing heavily in defensive talent. For instance, Manchester City recently completed the signing of Antonee Robinson from Fulham for an estimated £17 million, highlighting the current market value for quality full-backs (BBC Sport, July 2024).
