Kamloops, BC – A Zimbabwean student studying Engineering at Thompson Rivers University, Eddmore Mafuwe, tragically died in a car accident on July 11th. Mafuwe, who moved to Canada in 2022, was en route to a concert by Zimbabwean artist Jah Prayzah when the accident occurred.
Jah Prayzah,whose real name is Mukudzeyi mukombe,expressed profound grief upon learning of mafuwe’s death,along with that of another fan,Anotida Maziriri,who also perished in the crash. In a statement released on Sunday, the artist shared his heartbreak, stating, “To think they never made it to that moment hurts in a way I cannot explain.” He pledged to visit the bereaved families upon his return to Zimbabwe to offer his condolences.
Mafuwe’s family has launched a fundraising campaign titled “Help Bring Eddmore Mafuwe Home to Zimbabwe” with the aim of repatriating his body to his home country for a dignified burial. The accident has cast a somber mood over the Zimbabwean community abroad,with social media platforms filled with tributes to the young lives lost.
