Major electricity companies are plotting a 142 percent bill increase for individual consumers
Electricity providers are reportedly planning a substantial increase in consumer bills, possibly reaching 142 percent. While some companies are implementing large-load fees for major energy consumers like data centers, the distribution of these costs among the general public remains unclear due to the private nature of many of these agreements.
Ari Peskoe, director at Harvard Law School’s electricity law initiative, expressed concern over these “closed door proceedings.” He highlighted that such arrangements prevent regulatory bodies from benefiting from diverse perspectives and leave the public uninformed about the decision-making process.Peskoe also noted that utility companies are investing billions in infrastructure development.
