Cohen admits he uses AI for “very accidental questions” particularly regarding his son’s curiosities. These include answering questions such as “what is the most dangerous animal” and “how fast the cheetah.” It also aids in mastering unfamiliar tech.

In fact, Cohen leveraged AI to learn iMovie, a task he wouldn’t have figured out independently. The media mogul stated, “It taught me how to edit the movie using Imovia. I would never have come up with it myself.”

A Double-Edged Sword

While acknowledging AI’s usefulness, Cohen voices concerns about its potential negative impact. “This is an incredible tool. Wager it will make idiots from future generations. This will inspire laziness and stupidity,” he stated.

A recent study indicates a growing concern among educators, with 68% believing that AI tools could hinder the development of critical thinking skills in students (EdSurge 2023).

Cohen differentiates between appropriate and inappropriate AI usage, noting, “If I don’t care about something general, I’ll use it. If it feels personal, I will not.” Therefore, Cohen is careful regarding where he utilizes AI.

He specifically mentioned that AI should never be used for “Notes at the funeral. Wedding speech.” Furthermore, his approach to his shows remains untouched by AI.

Shielding His Son

Cohen admitted his son unwittingly fuels his AI use with endless questions. However, he is actively keeping his son in the dark about the tech behind the answers. As Cohen said, “I hold her promenade from oh as long as possible. He doesn’t know where I get answers.”

Ultimately, Cohen believes that “Children who use it to write and think about them” pose the real danger of the technology. This highlights the critical need for responsible AI integration.
