In Balashikha, the youth championship of the country in baseball among players under 16 years old ended. Representatives of the Sports School of the Olympic Reserve “Meteor” were triumphs of the competition. The team from Balashikha regained the title of champions.
For the main prize, the 12 best groups of six constituent entities of the Russian Federation competed. During the group stage, Meteor confidently outplayed his opponents with a score of 19: 0 and 15: 4. In a semifinal meeting with a score of 10: 0, Balashikhi baseball players prevailed over the Moscow team, which was considered one of the main contenders for victory. The team demonstrated excellent coherence in the defense and the effective game in the attack.
The decisive match against the team of St. Petersburg ended with a score of 29: 1 in favor of athletes from Balashikha. The judicial board praised the level of training of the team, noting the individual awards of the two players of the Meteor at once. Yaroslav Afanasyev was recognized as the most valuable player of the tournament and the best pet, and Nikita Efremov became the best fighting and defense player.
This champion title is of great importance for the entire Meteor, especially in the age group under 16 years old, where the team has not achieved such success since 2014. This victory became the result of the painstaking work of the coaching staff, the athletes themselves and the entire training system.
