Democrats Denounce Fine’s Attack on Omar
Florida Republican suggests Minnesota congresswoman is a terrorist
Outraged Democratic leaders in the House are demanding an apology from **Rep. Randy Fine** after the Florida Republican insinuated on X that **Rep. Ilhan Omar**, a Minnesota Democrat, is a terrorist.
Controversial X Post
**Fine**’s accusation followed an X post by **Omar** criticizing **Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu** for meeting with **House Speaker Mike Johnson**, stating “war criminals should not be welcomed by any president or Congress.”
She also said that **Netanyahu** “should be held accountable for his crimes.”
**Fine** responded to **Omar**’s post by writing, “I’m sure it is difficult to see us welcome the killer of so many of your fellow Muslim terrorists. The only shame is that you serve in Congress.”

**Omar** is one of the few Muslim members of Congress, representing a district where anti-Muslim hate crimes rose by 115% in 2023, according to FBI data (FBI).
Democratic Leaders Push Back
**House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries**, **House Democratic Whip Katherine Clark**, and **House Democratic Caucus Chair Pete Aguilar** jointly condemned **Fine**’s comments, calling them “unhinged, racist and Islamophobic,”
as well as “bigoted and disgusting.”
The Democratic leaders added, “We are just weeks removed from heinous acts of political violence targeting elected officials in Minnesota for assassination… Randy Fine must apologize immediately.”
In response, **Fine** posted on X, calling the House Democrats the “Hamas Caucus.”
He continued, “The Hamas Caucus is upset. Boo hoo. I guess they weren’t listening when I said the Hebrew Hammer was coming.”

Fine Defends His Comments
After the story’s initial publication, **Fine**’s office sent a statement to CNN in which the congressman accused Democrats of “ad hominem attacks.”
He also stated that **Jeffries** “has no issues with **Ilhan Omar** calling **Bibi Netanyahu** a war criminal but does when I call her out for doing it.”
The heated exchange reflects the increasing polarization in Congress, with little sign of de-escalation as the midterm elections approach.
