Tyrosine kinase inhibitors may help alleviate wet AMD treatment burden

LAS VEGAS — In this video, Victor H. Gonzalez, MD, discusses “exciting” presentations at Clinical Trials at the Summit on wet age-related macular degeneration treatments, specifically those on tyrosine kinase inhibitors.

“Hopefully, in the not too distant future, we will be able to decrease the number of injections that these patients need, improve the visual acuity and … give the patients their life back. They don’t need to be in our office. Let’s do a better job,” Gonzalez, of Gulf Coast Eye Institute in Texas, told Healio. “I think with these new tools in hand, we will have an opportunity to do just that.”
