According to lead guitarist **Mark Morton**, being invited to play with Black Sabbath at their final show marked “one of the greatest honors of our career.” He added that the cover is “an offering to the celebration” of Black Sabbath’s legacy.

The Back to the Beginning concert, hosted in **Osbourne’s** hometown of Birmingham, England, showcased numerous heavy metal and hard rock icons. Each artist delivered unique interpretations of Black Sabbath and **Osbourne** classics.

Metallica, for instance, delivered covers of “Hole in the Sky” and “Johnny Blade.” Guns N’ Roses presented a Sabbath-heavy set that featured “It’s Alright,” “Never Say Die,” “Junior’s Eyes,” and “Sabbath Bloody Sabbath.”

The Villa Park event included Tool performing “Hand of Doom,” Anthrax tackling “Into the Void,” Pantera playing their rendition of “Planet Caravan,” and Slayer delivering “Wicked World.”

Heavy metal has seen a resurgence, with 58% of concertgoers identifying as fans of the genre in 2023, according to a recent survey (Statista).

“Black Sabbath invented heavy metal and in doing so, they changed the world,” **Morton** stated. The concert concluded with a five-song solo set by **Osbourne**, after which the four original Black Sabbath members reunited. They performed classics like “War Pigs,” “Iron Man,” and “Paranoid” for a final time.
