Jennifer Aniston Teases ‘The Morning Show’s ‘Emotional’ Fourth Season

‘The Morning Show’ Tackles AI, Deepfakes in Season 4

Get ready for an intense season as “emotional” storylines are coming to the forefront. Jennifer Aniston indicates the show will not be slowing down as it heads into its fourth season, exploring complex topics.

Aniston’s Take on Season 4

Jennifer Aniston, who stars in and executive produces the series, recently shared insights about the demanding nature of the Apple TV+ program.

The Morning Show is just a beast to film,” Aniston told People. “It is layered, it’s complicated, it’s emotional, it hits on a lot of topics and current events, so let’s just say, it’s not Friends.”

She emphasized the dual role she and co-star Reese Witherspoon play, noting it requires substantial effort. However, she acknowledged the support of an incredible team. Aniston also mentioned that the production wrapped up in December 2024, describing it as “so hard,” but also teasing that it’s “a great season. It’s jam-packed, that’s for sure.”

New Faces Join the Cast

While specific plot details remain under wraps, the ensemble cast will welcome new members. Marion Cotillard and Aaron Pierre are set to join, alongside returning stars Billy Crudup, Mark Duplass, Néstor Carbonell, Karen Pittman, and Greta Lee.

Season 3 Recap

In the previous season, viewers witnessed the merger between UBA and YDA, a rival network. The season also introduced Jon Hamm as Paul Marks, a billionaire whose character entered into a romance with Aniston’s Alex. Additionally, Witherspoon’s Bradley faced a moral dilemma concerning her brother’s involvement in the U.S. Capitol insurrection.

Deepfakes & AI

Showrunner Charlotte Stoudt previously revealed that season four will delve into the realm of deepfakes and artificial intelligence. According to a 2023 study, deepfake videos increased by 900% since 2019, raising significant concerns about misinformation (Veridise).

Stoudt explained the narrative direction, “We blew everything up last year with the biggest bomb we could possibly build. So, we have to ask ourselves how is the band going to get back together, and what will that look like? We get into the world of deepfakes and AI and the misinformation in the fog of war that we’re seeing now in the Middle East and stuff. We’re looking at who can trust. And can you trust what you’re seeing? Can you trust yourself? Can you trust your news outlet?”

Premiere Date

The Morning Show is scheduled to return to Apple TV+ on September 17.
