Human remains have been discovered following an explosion at a fireworks storage facility in Northern California, authorities announced Friday. The incident, which occurred near Esparto, prompted a large-scale response and led to the cancellation of local Independence Day celebrations. Simultaneously, a separate fire in Los Angeles, also linked to fireworks, resulted in one fatality and multiple injuries.

Investigators have confirmed the recovery of human remains at the site of the Yolo County explosion. Seven individuals where initially reported missing after the blast on Tuesday. The ensuing fire spread, igniting smaller, secondary fires in the surrounding area. The Yolo County Coroner’s division has been granted access to the site and is working to identify the remains, while maintaining contact with the families of those missing. Identification efforts are ongoing.

Two people received medical treatment for injuries sustained in the explosion,according to county officials. The cause of the blast remains under inquiry.
