Upscale Kosher Sushi Arrives in DC
Oro Nami brings innovative flavors and handcrafted drinks to the capital.
Washington, D.C. diners have a new option for kosher cuisine. Oro Nami, a contemporary kosher sushi and cocktail bar, celebrated its grand opening on June 25, bringing a sleek and innovative culinary experience to the District’s dining scene.
A Dream Realized
More than just a restaurant, Oro Nami aims to be a celebration of flavor, tradition, and culinary innovation. The eatery on Pennsylvania Avenue boasts minimalist elegance with a curated menu that redefines kosher sushi, offering meticulously sourced fish, artfully plated rolls, and handcrafted drinks within a modern, lounge-style environment.
“Opening this restaurant has been a dream of mine for years,”
said managing partner, Harrison Furman. “There’s been a real demand in D.C. for upscale kosher dining that doesn’t compromise on creativity or ambiance. With Oro Nami, we’re not just filling that gap — we’re raising the bar.”
Atmosphere and Standards
Oro Nami offers vibrant interiors and a serene dining space, blending traditional Japanese techniques with global kosher standards. According to the National Restaurant Association, consumers prioritize restaurants that offer unique experiences, with 72% saying they value establishments that provide innovative dining options (National Restaurant Association).
“Guests can expect an elevated experience — colorful interiors and an immersive dining experience that blends traditional Japanese techniques with global kosher standards,”
said co-owner Dino Lonzano, who is also the CEO of Market Street Diamonds in Georgetown.
Kosher Certification and Community Support
Oro Nami is certified kosher under the Rabbinical Council of Greater Washington. Rabbi Zvi Holland, rabbinic coordinator with Capitol K, welcomed the restaurant’s opening, saying, “All of the rabbis on the Vaad are excited about the opportunity to expand kosher options in D.C.”
Extended Hours
The restaurant’s debut followed a VIP soft opening. Setting itself apart, Oro Nami remains open until 10 p.m., an unusual offering among D.C.’s kosher establishments, which typically close earlier.
“Oro Nami was created with one clear mission: to bring world-class kosher sushi and handcrafted drinks to Washington, D.C.,”
the owners said. “We’re more than a sushi restaurant — we’re a celebration of flavor and tradition.”
Fresh. Kosher. Unforgettable.
