The Tengger Desert’s southeast edge now boasts a completed sand-fixing and edge-locking project. This initiative will serve as a crucial ecological shield against the advancing desert, protecting the vital Yellow River.

Ambitious Project’s Conclusion

The sand-fixing and edge-locking undertaking in Ningxia’s Tengger Desert is now fully realized. This accomplishment resulted in a protective belt, stretching around 153 kilometers, along the desert’s southeastern periphery near Zhongwei City. The initiative successfully locked the desert’s edge.

Ecological Impact

This project’s completion will produce a considerable ecological barrier in the upper reaches of the Yellow River. This step is key to halting the Tengger Desert’s expansion, which in turn safeguards the Yellow River’s well-being. It also helps to enhance the regional environment, supporting local economic growth and societal advancement.
