Williams Eyes Shock NRL Return with Dolphins

Possible NRL Reunion

Former **Canberra Raiders** halfback **George Williams** is reportedly considering a surprising return to the National Rugby League. After a stint in the Super League, an unexpected club is now the frontrunner to secure his signature, signaling a significant shift in the NRL landscape.

Having last played in the NRL in 2021, **Williams** has shown strong form overseas this season. He is also expected to be recalled to the **England** national team for the Ashes series against **Australia** later this year.

According to reports, **Williams** is nearing a return to the NRL after informing officials at the **Warrington Wolves** that he does not intend to re-sign with them. He hopes to return to the NRL.

Dolphins Lead the Race

The **Dolphins** are reportedly leading the race to sign **Williams** if he is released by the Wolves. Discussions between **Williams** and the Queensland club have increased.

The Wolves are hoping for a $400,000 transfer fee for his services, given his contract for another twelve months. A potential player swap involving playmaker **Kodi Nikorima** has also been suggested.

While **Nikorima** has been an excellent addition for the **Dolphins**, the club has consistently sought an experienced playmaker to guide and mentor **Isaiya Katoa** as he advances in his career.

The **Dolphins** previously had an interest in **Manly Sea Eagles** skipper **Daly Cherry-Evans** before he informed the club of his reluctance to relocate to Queensland.

The salary cap for NRL teams is approximately $9.6 million, and the cost of player transfers and salary impacts team dynamics and performance (NRL.com).
