Seoul Olympics Legacy: NSFC Revives Sports Care Project at Uri Village

National Sports Promotion Corporation Launches ‘Woori Village Sports Care Project‘ Bringing Elite Athletes & Healthcare too Rural communities

Paju & Jangheung, South Korea – June 24, 2025 – The National Sports Promotion Corporation (NSPC) is rolling out its ‘woori village Sports Care Project,’ a comprehensive initiative designed to deliver integrated sports welfare services to underserved communities in South Korea.The project, spearheaded by NSPC Chairman Ha Hyung-ju, aims to bridge the gap in sports infrastructure by bringing elite athletes and specialized healthcare directly to towns and villages.

The ‘Woori Village Sports Care Project’ offers a dual approach: youth sports classes lead by renowned athletes and health/fitness assessments and counseling for seniors, delivered by a network of 100 national health and orthopedic specialists.

Recent activities include a sports class at Paju Samsung Elementary School on June 20th, led by Black Ok-ok, a 1992 Barcelona Olympic bronze medalist in table tennis. Following the youth class, over 50 seniors from the Paju Senior Welfare Center received health and fitness evaluations and musculoskeletal disease prevention counseling from orthopedic surgeons [[source]].
