The death of Henry Conyngham, also known as Lord Henry Mount Charles, has been announced, marking the end of an era. He passed away following a prolonged struggle with cancer, leaving behind a legacy deeply interwoven with his family and the historic Slane Castle.

Remembering a Life

Henry died peacefully on June 18th in St. James’s Hospital, surrounded by relatives. He is survived by his wife, Iona, and children: Alex, Henrietta, Wolfe, and Tamara. His siblings Patrick and Simon also mourn his passing.

The family extends their gratitude to the staff at St. James’s Hospital. Cancer remains a significant health challenge, with around 1.8 million new cases in the US expected in 2024 (American Cancer Society).

Arrangements and Tributes

A book of condolences will be available at Slane Castle on June 20th and 21st from 10 am to 6 pm. Those wishing to pay their respects can do so at the castle on June 24th between 3 pm and 7 pm. The funeral is set for June 25th at noon in St. Patrick’s Church of Ireland, Slane.

Due to space limitations, the church service will have reserved seating for family. The service will also be streamed online. The family welcomes attendees to offer condolences after the service at Slane Castle.
