Taipei, Taiwan – A fire erupted on a No. 262 electric bus on Dunhua North Road in Taipei City on Monday evening, prompting immediate safety inspections of the city’s entire electric bus fleet.The Taipei City Public Transportation Office announced the comprehensive review on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, marking the first such incident involving an electric bus in the city.

Immediate Response to the Electric Bus Incident

The incident occurred at 8:43 PM in front of No. 167 Dunhua North Road. Fortunately, all passengers were safely evacuated, and no injuries were reported. Chen Junhao, a technical officer with the Taipei Public Transportation Department, stated that the initial assessment points to a battery malfunction as the cause of the fire.
