At the Bienne and Bernese Jura gymnasium (GBJB), a notable change has swept through classrooms. Keyboards and screens have replaced traditional pens and paper for language exams, marking a significant step in educational digitization. This shift reflects a broader strategy for schools in the Bernese region.

Digitization Takes Center Stage

Recently, the GBJB, situated near Lake Bienne, saw students utilizing computers for their French editorial and German language tests. Instead of submitting handwritten work, pupils submitted typed texts via an online platform when the time was up. This change is a major one.

In a small room on the first floor, Christine Gagnebin explained that this new approach is part of the Bernese strategy for digital integration in secondary schools. The shift towards digital tools reflects a commitment supported by the Conference of Directors.
