Beginning this year, Ohio State University will require all students to develop proficiency in artificial intelligence, integrating AI skills with customary learning. The initiative aims to equip graduates for a rapidly evolving job market increasingly influenced by AI technologies.

AI is projected to contribute $15.7 trillion to the global economy by 2030, according to a report by PwC. This highlights the growing importance of AI skills in the workforce.
Curriculum Integration
Ravi Bellamkonda, Ohio State’s provost, explained that the AI fluency initiative will incorporate AI education throughout the undergraduate curriculum. The goal is for students to become bilingual – fluent in both their major field of study and the application of AI in that area.
The programme will prioritize incoming freshmen, ensuring that every Ohio State graduate is proficient in AI and its responsible application within their respective fields. This proactive approach aims to prepare students for the future demands of their professions.
