Van Zee: Portugal’s Rising Music Star
Sebastião Van Zee Sales Caldeira, known professionally as Van Zee, is a Portuguese singer who was born in Funchal on april 19, 2002. He has quickly become a prominent figure in the Portuguese music scene.
Early Success and debut Album
Van Zee made his debut with the studio album Aporia in 2021. Though,it was the 2020 release of tempo that catapulted him to fame. Three years after its release, Tempo reached number one and was certified quadruple platinum by the Portuguese Phonographic Association.
Tame: A Chart-Topping Follow-Up
In December 2023, Van Zee released his second LP, Tame. The album peaked at number two on the charts and became the fifth best-selling album of the following year. It achieved platinum status with 7,000 equivalent units sold and was supported by sold-out concert halls.
The album produced the hit songs Loving and Alma Wa, which were certified quadruple and sextuple platinum by the AFP for sales of 40,000 and 60,000 copies, respectively.
Collaboration and Continued Recognition
Van Zee collaborated with Frankieontheguitar on the project High sewing (2025), which became his second album to reach the top of the Portuguese charts. His song Blessing (2024) won the Song of the Year award at the Prémios da Música Portuguesa and achieved number one status, earning a quintuple platinum certification.
In Febuary 2025, Van Zee performed concerts at the Coliseu Porto Ageas and the Coliseu dos recreios in Lisbon.
