Access to the courtroom during the reading of the sentence will be restricted
Access to the courtroom will be even more restricted than during the trial held behind closed doors in the same court from April 9 to May 2.
At the moment, only the accused, 30 years old, his parents, the Spanish actor Rodolfo Sancho and the investment analyst Silvia Bronchalo, representatives of the Spanish Embassy in Thailand, the prosecutor and the Thai lawyers for the defense and co-accusation, who represent Arrieta’s family, are authorized to enter the courtroom.
The legal team advising Sancho from Spain, criminologists RamĂłn Chipirrás and Carmen BafalgĂłn and lawyer Marcos GarcĂa-Montes, currently in Samui, are still awaiting the judge’s authorization to enter the court.
The victim’s parents, Ana Marcela Artega and Leovaldo JosĂ© Arrieta, “are not in Thailand,” according to statements made to EFE by Ospina Abogados, the law firm representing the family in Spain, and are expected to follow the verdict from their native Colombia.
