Prashant Kishor, an election strategist, predicted that opposition unity against the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in 2024 elections would “never work” due to significant ideological disparities. Kishor argued that a coalition of ideologies, such as Gandhiwadis, Ambedkarites, socialists, and communists, should come together to challenge the BJP’s Hindutva, nationalism, and welfarism, which he referred to as its three-level pillars. He also criticised the opposition’s current approach and noted that ideological alignment is necessary to deliver effective opposition to the BJP. He further stated that the benefit of Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra remained uncertain as it did not sufficiently address the need for a strategic coalition of opposition forces. Kishor is currently touring Bihar in a “Jan Suraaj Yatra” as he seeks to change the state’s political discourse and create a new political system.
